Good guess, but no. During the summer of 1988 Caitlin and I lived in Virginia Beach and one of our neighbors was in a hardcore metal band called "Macabre." Except they were better musicians than spellers, so they had stickers and other merch printed up that spelled the band's name as "Macabe."
I get it. Because of a young niece's mispronunciation of a pizza chain's name on a sign, we've been referring to D'Angelo's as "Dangly-O's" for 40 years.
